The Journey Within

Travel, hiking, mountaineering, exploring the unknown and adventure...i had the fascination for all these words as i was growing..i think i was doing graduation..i wanted to see wots out, i wanted to explore and i used to do it in my way by exploring d hills and wilderness around me. Yeah, i had the passion to find!! may be to learn. was it curiosity or just normal human behaviour to know..but i loved travelling, observing locales, and just seeing whats happening all around. And today iv seen so much...himalayas, thar, the north east, the western ghats, the hinterland...and still the thirst remains...to see...to know...to find...to learn....why??

Coz the 'journey within' is calling me and i hav to hop in... tell ya...it wud b fun!!and i always wanted it... hey Me...I'm coming.

Just Kidding!

Kids!!...they'v lately made me smile a lot....as iv known a special person who loves kids. So this ladakhi kid obviously invited me for a click..carried by his mother in a warm shawl, i met him on the way to Sachukul Gompa near Tangtse village in Ladakh.

His cheek pops out more as its pressed by the shawl :)
But more than anything his eyes..
pure, serene, satisfied..but with a curiosity..

His mother insisted only to click him..
Ladakh..offering the most sought after summer holidays, has a good road network thanks to Border Roads Organisation..villages are far flung, with a skewed public transport, that means kids have to walk kilometers to get to the nearest secondary school..most Ladakhis have not seen the world below Leh. In a trip organised by us Ladakhi school children were amazed to see Mc D and escalators...a visit to Prez's residence was as much memorable.

The Land of Passes...Ladakh!

Ive been in Ladakh for last two years....never thought ill get to see snow and landscapes like these.... explore is the word, and im grateful i got a chance to visit and learn from its people and the land...

Laddakh the land of passes ( la means pass and ddakh land in laddakhi) has given me enchanting views, chill blains ( a cold injury), lessons on snow survival by locals, long waits on snow clad roads, heart in the mouth experiences of almost getting buried in crevasses, chang ( the local liquor ), yak meat, spottted wildlife - murmots ( a big rodent), kyangs ( wild asses), himalayan pigeons, snow leopard cubs...fishes, rivers- indus, nubra , shyok.....

above all peace...i still breathe the silence and pure air.....

Everybody has her own way of exploring...and i unwind by photography...as i had heard once its 'freezing time'. Catching the time forever and being able to look at it 'time' and again...

So our journeys will also be through frozen times.....looking back and ahead through it...
knowing people and places....
as we look through each others' eyes we learn more as we see more...
there will be lot of pictures...
lot of 'thousand words'....
